Hamilton the new Centre of the GTA??

Hamilton could soon be the center of the GTA. What I mean by that is that now you have an interesting development happening and it’s going to be happening in the next few years. That’s the extension of the GO Train line. Here’s an article from Urban Toronto, Confederation GO, East Hamilton’s new station opens in 2019. Earlier this month, the collection of politicians from all three levels of government ceremonially broke ground on the new $35 million Confederation GO station. This is on the East Side of Hamilton so basically the Hamilton GO station, we already have that, now the next station is getting ready to be opened up on the East Side of Hamilton and the line will keep growing all the way to Niagara Falls.

Soon, if you look, if you zoom out on the GTA and go into space, Toronto, obviously, center of the universe that it is, we may see a day where Hamilton actually becomes the central point geographically in the GTA because we have this mega city as it were that’s going to stretch all the way from Oshawa all the way down to Niagara Falls. That is going to be, a big reason for that is going to be the extension of the GO Train lines and just the ability for people to commute easily and comfortably all the way from Niagara Falls, all the way to Oshawa, all the way up to Barrie and everything in between.

Suddenly, Hamilton instead of being at the end of the line as it is now will soon be in the middle of the line. People from Toronto can easily get to Hamilton, people from Niagara Falls can get to Hamilton. The city of Hamilton itself I think is going to be a really major benefactor and benefit from this transit infrastructure that’s coming in.
